Why HouseChalk exists
I built the homes.
I made the
mistakes.
Seventeen homes lived in. Two built from the ground up. Two more taken back to the studs. HouseChalk is everything I wish I had known before the concrete was poured.

Every regret
had the same shape.
It was never the big, obvious calls. It was the small ones: made fast, made tired, made without knowing what they had touched. A switch in the wrong place. An island that ate the walkway. A finish picked the night before a deadline.
You don't feel it until you're living in it.
The small calls add upAn engineer sees systems.
A homeowner feels them.
For five years I was one of the top draftsmen at a large firm, drawing the systems most people never see: the wiring, the plumbing, the ductwork behind every wall. For twenty-five more, I built software. That's where I learned to see patterns and find the fix.
So by my fourth time through it as the homeowner, I stopped trusting my memory and started mapping the decisions. Every one, in order, with what it connected to.
The regret stopped. That map became HouseChalk.
