    Experience from our work

    We bring together experience in real estate, software engineering, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drafting. We have also built homes for our own family and lived with the choices we made.

    Our professional backgrounds helped, but we still missed things in our own builds. We took those lessons into the next home and helped friends and family with theirs. HouseChalk brings that experience into the questions you ask before making a decision.

    Philip Jarrell

    Co-founder

    Philip's background is in software engineering and drafting, specializing in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. That work gives him a technical understanding of the systems behind the walls and how a change in one can affect another.

    As a dad and homeowner, he has also experienced what drawings alone cannot tell you: how a house works for the family living in it. Building his own homes, living with the results, and helping friends and family with their projects gave him practical lessons to bring alongside that technical background.

    He brings both perspectives to HouseChalk's explanations of how choices connect—from a sink in the island to the plumbing and storage underneath it.

    Kendra is a Tennessee real estate agent, advisor, and author of Becoming Home: Self-Discovery Through the Power of Space. She has helped clients navigate building, relocation, investment, and changes in what they need from a home.

    She has lived through those decisions herself—building, moving, and discovering that what once worked for a family may stop working as life changes. Her consulting and writing explore how our homes support our routines, priorities, and relationships.

    That perspective matters to HouseChalk: before choosing what goes into a room, understand the people who will use it and what they need it to do.
