Question 1

Why can't my builder just guide me through the decisions?

Accepted Answer

Your builder is an important source of guidance. HouseChalk gives you material to review before those conversations: the options, trade-offs, and decisions that depend on each other. Your builder still confirms what works for the project.

Question 2

When should I start using this?

Accepted Answer

Before your builder starts asking for answers is a useful time to begin. Review the choices ahead and discuss their timing with your builder.

Question 3

Is this only for custom homes?

Accepted Answer

HouseChalk is designed for custom builds and major renovations, where choices about the layout, systems, and finishes affect each other. Try the example decision to see the kind of guidance it provides.

Question 4

Will this replace my builder or designer?

Accepted Answer

No. HouseChalk explains decisions and helps you keep track of your choices. Your builder and design professionals remain responsible for project-specific advice, feasibility, and construction requirements.

Question 5

What if I don't know anything about building?

Accepted Answer

The guidance is written for homeowners. It explains the options and trade-offs in plain language, and the AI Coach is included for follow-up questions.

Question 6

How is this different from Pinterest or YouTube?

Accepted Answer

HouseChalk organizes building decisions by timing and dependency, explains the trade-offs, and keeps your answers and reasoning. You can still use photos and videos to explore what you like.

Question 7

What if I'm already mid-build?

Accepted Answer

The guidance may still be useful for choices ahead. Some decisions may already be constrained by completed work. Tell us your stage and what remains undecided if you want help assessing the fit.

Question 8

I'm already exhausted from decisions. Will this add more?

Accepted Answer

It still takes time to review options and make choices. HouseChalk organizes that work and explains the trade-offs so you have a place to start. Try the free example before committing to the full plan.
